Wiston is a medieval church probably dating back to the 10th century (see History section). Over the years repairs, improvements and additions have been made to the fabric of the church the most recent being in 2012/13.when it was agreed that extensive work was required if the church was to remain standing. A two phase restoration project was commenced.
In May 2012 to January 2013 phase one of the project was carried out which involved reroofing of the main building, removal of all rotten timber which included the pews, parging/repointing of the tower and refurbished rainwater goods.
In order to ensure that this ancient church is preserved for future generations and that is it used by the wider community it is essential that the fabric of the building is restored and maintained and that 21st century facilities are provided. To this end the Church Council are embarking on a five year project to complete phase 2 of the restoration works. An Architect has been engaged and it is planned to use the services of a professional fundraiser
